On Island Time in Islamorada

Processed with VSCO with fp2 presetContinuing my journey through south Florida, I would be remiss to not mention my absolute favorite town in the entire US: Islamorada. This small town in the middle of the Florida Keys may be known as the Sport Fishing Capital of the World, but it also has a blooming arts scene that complements the beauty of the locale and its laid-back, colorful vibe.

Since it's inception in 2011, "Morada Way", a 501(c)3 organization, serves as Islamorada's cultural hub. It is home to Morada Way Clay, a co-op of potters and Ceramic artists that also hosts classes for the public, Pasta Pantaleo Art Gallery, The Redbone Gallery, and the newly renovated Florida Keys Brewing Co. & Beer Garden, a great place to stop in after exploring the arts district.

In addition, Morada Way hosts monthly "ArtWalks" that include live music, performance artists, and booths stretching a quarter mile that showcase a range of artworks. The organization also hosts special events and lectures that are open to the public. Learn more here.

If this doesn't whet your appetite for a visit to Islamorada, the scenery certainly should. With the crystal clear water, surrounding reefs, great food, and excellent fishing, it is a hard place to beat!
